Take a more balanced view - the UK needs brave entrepreneurs, people starting off very often with nothing who go on to make the "big time". I know because I worked over 20 years for one. He & his wife literally built the business premises themselves, brick by brick and went on to become very wealthy indeed. They worked endless hours and hours - no 9-5 for them. They were in their 50ties when I first met them. Since then I've met others who started out with nothing - selfmade men and women. The thing they all had in common was the utter determination and will to make a success of their chosen business or profession. They were driven with an huge work ethic - no breaks, no holidays, working 16-17 hrs a day. Once established, they expected high standards but were kind and considerate employers, paying their staff well. You had to work though. These people are a different "breed" to we more ordunary bods. They include artists, muscians, businessmen, inventors, actors, dancers, sportsmen/women all driven to achieve perfection. We need all sorts to make a population that includes the good the basd and the ugly. |
