| Re report in the D.Telegraph today regarding Waitrose removing all its black plastic food trays as they cannot be recycled - the current scanning machines cannot sort them out from other coloured plastics so the entire plastics collection has to be consigned to landFILL OR THE INCINERATOR. (sorry, caps lock again!) Waitrose are changing the black trays to clear plastic which can be scanned and is accepted. However, it transpires that the black plastic itself is recycled from awkward to handle, assorted, multi-coloured plastic bottles - they cannot be recycled into anything other than black plastic! Now these un-useable plastic bottles are having to be incinerated. Round and round we go - isn't there a chief Tzar out there researching all of this entire recycling problem? Seems one step forward one or even two steps back! |
