"For my own benefit and I am the first to admit my knowledge of Isleworth is somewhat limited - why would certain elected councillors go out of their way to humour a relatively small band of voters? At the risk of sounding snobbish I can't imagine that Sue Sampson, for example, has much in common with them or need their votes." Well, why did this same councillor decide to p*ss off another sizeable section of their ward by being party to handing over a local park for horse grazing to someone of their acquaintance? Not only that they then denied knowledge of this and got caught out through an F.O.I. request? The reason in my view is that these people, have no political nous whatsoever, they are not what I call Labour party people. They have very little concept of what the role of a local councillor should be, concerned more with playing the big I am rather than acting as an advocate and representative for local people. There are of course notable exceptions, but you tell me what sort of half-wit, at a public meeting to discuss Church St. says, if it (the closure) doesn't work we might be able to persuade the council to look at this again! Clearly there is no understanding of just who makes up 'the council'. |
