Not illegal I agree, but not a manoeuvre that can be completed without a considerable amount of inconvenience/delay to other traffic. But therein lies the problem, close one 'rat run' (Church Street) and then there's more traffic on Twickenham Road, so in turn some of that traffic uses other 'rat runs'. So all the closure of Church Street has achieved is peace and quiet for the residents of Church Street, whereas the residents of other residential roads are now increasingly affected by rat-running, and Twickenham Road itself can't cope. What a great achievement/solution...not. |
