Hello Sarah

I am a bit confused by your post about adaptations to a Hounslow freeholders home.
Unless Hounslow has completely scraped their own social services department, funding was at one time available to keep a disabled person in their own home as it's cheaper than keeping them in hospital ect.

A very competent professorial assessment is carried out by a trained person from Hounslow Council who assess the occupant practical needs to be able to live as normally possible, then presents the report to see if funding is available carry out the work required.

The first scenario you mention is a complete cop out by any of the support services, it is completely degrading for anyone to have to live like that, when a stair lift can give a disabled person full use of their house.

That way, a living room, bedroom and bathroom remain the same, rather condemning  a disabled person to living on the ground floor with one room of multiple use, as living, sleeping and toilet facilities.

So why was Houslow Homes used? Unless LBOH has to rely on them these days.
