I've read this thread with interest. No one as yet has picked up the reality that Hounslow Homes is an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO)employed by the London Borough of Hounslow to run the day to day management of the 16,000 social housing units owned by LBH. HH does not have control of the Allocations Policy, this remains within the Council and Locata which seems to be re written on a whim. Ergo, voids are the responsibility of the Council with HH bringing the individual properties to the Decent Homes standard as and when instructed. It is also interesting to note that the Housing Policy, including allocations is once again being revisited, this has been going on since 2007! The current administration is seeking to cut £5 million from the HH management fee which will result in many front line services being cut within HH. It seems to me that Elected Members need to get a grip of Council Officers and decide who actually runs the Council. I could say that those who excercised the "Right to Buy" have deprived many people of the opportunity to live in social housing and that this daft Thatcherite policy has led, in the main, to the shortage of housing we face at the moment, but I won't. Oh, and by the way I am an ex Tenant Board Member of Hounslow Homes.
