Dave Nobody is squirming out of anything, we are talking about this particular budget. The Lib Dems and John Connelly have historically voted according to conscience, sometimes that has involved supporting the administration, sometimes opposing it, sometimes abstaining. The West Area Independents have been part of the administration for most of its term but that ended with the incident which, although it struck me as having been an extraordinary act both morally and tactically, I don't wish to get involved in because there may have been more to the story than I am aware of. But Peter Hills stated quite clearly at Borough Council that he wanted this budget to go to Scrutiny so that we could "let them throw it out". At Borough Council Jiwan Virk voted with Labour, as did the Lib Dems. John voted in favour of the recommendation to allow the proposals to proceed to Scrutiny, but clearly not because he supported them. I find it extraordinary that you seem to be trying to wind up and estrange all the minority parties and groups at this of all times Dave. Is it because you want the Tory budget to succeed, either because you don't have an alternative budget of your own or because you think it will make good propaganda during the election campaign? What a good friend the poor and needy have in Labour if that is the case. |
