Yes, I suspect this was intended to go somewhere else! Menawhile, my 4th attempt to post a reply to previous posts other than the Heathrow one, I agree with re-opening the ferry is someone can be persuaded to pay. I cannot see Kew Gardens doing so. We used to use the ferry when I was a child and it meant not having to retrace steps along the towpath. The London Apprentice, one of the finest sights on the river especially on a hot thirsty day, would I am sure love to see the ferry reopened, especially at weekends. They could also reopen some of the disused exit gates from Kew Gardens so that visitors could exit onto the towpath and end their visits with a healthy walk to Kew, Richmond or not so healthy to the London Apprentice. I cannot see the bridge happening, too long a stretch and only benefiting the noble Duke. I haven't seen the hotel plans but hope nothing will spoil the historic view of Syon House from the Kew side. Incidentally on the airplane front, an evening beside the river drives home what being under the flight path is like - always 4 in sight, in a never-ending convoy. Dan |
