I believe Lidl have a 5 year lease. Morrisons were very keen to stay but their former landlord sold the site. Somebody told me Brentford was their most profitable store. I think the layout of the new store is a bit of a mess, and its store management seems not great (always out of things I would buy) Whether it will improve when they stop the cafe, who knows. There are a lot of people in Brentford and several thousands arriving soon - about 1000 on the reopening Paragon site, more of Ballymore, Heidelberg well on the way, polices station etc allegedly following soon (and Griffin Park, and Great West House conversion, and Duffy site, and Churchill Park, and Watermans Park former office and former arts centre, plus plenty of others).
If shops ever open in the council block that will drive more footfall, and I hope the council and local community groups will succeed in making Brentford more lively. |
