| I've always believed in a fair a socially blended society based on fairness. I would like to think that that was the Labour Party was explained at school and in the history books of 20th century Britain. But it has not been like that in my entire voting age life. And I've never been impress by the other main parties either. It's pretty much the same. But I have come to the conclusion for quite some years that party Politics at Council level and GLA level is toxic and increasingly so. Supported by a culture of incompetence and cronyism that feeds off whatever it can get irrespective of who their paymasters are. Which at the end of the chain are all of us who pay taxes. I seldom agree fully with everything ( possibly anything ) that Cllr Lambert says or supports but I do fully support his exemplarily efforts in being a pro active and communicative councillor in the most human of ways. If he stands as an independent, he will win but this borough needs a lot more independent and a much more slender majority. The most unhealthy thing in this country are large majority regimes. The last covet riddled with indifference and incompetence and it will become the same with this one. No proper debate and pointless anyway. _ Until it all goes wrong and the blame game begins. Unbalanced and internally biased and manipulated power broking in this local Council is starting to resemble Tower Hamlets. That can only be reigned in by a solid opposition and a narrow enough majority to keep people on their toes and get things right. Maybe the best legacy and honourable contribution Cllr Lambert can make is to break that mould and start the change. |
