Whilst no longer a member of the Labour party I have remained a supporter, but have found myself unable to vote for them locally. Apart from a couple of notable exceptions they just seem like a bunch of chancers out for an well paid ego trip. I cannot believe that someone on the Labour group wasn't aware of the rules regarding attendance, which have finally done for Cllr. Sarai. It should be to the eternal shame of The Leader and Chief Whip that they have allowed this situation to last for so long, whilst faffing around with pretty trumped-up charges against Cllr. Lambert. If something is wrong -then it is wrong, no-one is above criticism, and the Chief Whip especially should have his ear to the ground, and should have offered to meet with Cllr. Lambert for a private chat if he knew that he had some concerns, NOT made a silly fuss over what remarks he made. It smacks of people taking the easy option, instead of tackling an appalling breach of the proper legislation which an officer of the Group should have been familiar with. |
