Unfortunately Hounslow slid into the mire of Rotten boroughs in the early 1980s under the cover of the antics of Brent. There have been far too many councillors in the borough who have sold their soul to the party and the whip only to be dumped in the gutter to rot and never be swept away- due to cut backs, privatisation, public/private partnerships, corruption or ineptitude. Cllr. Lambert has been a proper local councillor, makes the effort to his ward and has a sense of duty. His political beliefs must be rather strained to say the least. That its taken so long to see what others have known for decades is a pity. It's pretty much the same for those Tories who also have or had a sense of duty and honour to their constituents. They too have been undermined by the top table of government and the demands of the whip and party first. It underlines my personal belief that much of our failings are more about party posturing and dogma than common sense and true duty. Plus the acceptance of what was once considered corrupt is too accepted across society in general. I wish Cllr Lambert well but hopes he will sit as an independent and will secure his patch if he stops cow towing to the more bonkers element of politics. |
