The Bus islands are seriously dangerous and there have been many incidents with passengers being clipped by mirrors and hit by cyclists and scooterists. Not to mention getting soaked by spray from vehicles and being unable to step back to a safer place. Smacks of modelling done by someone who has never experienced travelling by bus with lesser mobility, children or shopping. Devoid of pragmatism. And where did TfL source these accident figures? They are exactly the same as those used for other schemes? This at first read seems like an anti bus use brief and do they seriously think people will walk this route? It's always been a bust bus route but never a favoured walking route. Then theres the hugely neglected Cycleway along the A4 which for those of us who cycle is a safe and easy ride which links Osterley, Isleworth, Spring Grove, Hounslow east, Central and west very easily as well as Heston and Cranford and onto the airport it just needs refining and updating and short bits properly reinstating and but is perfect in segregating cyclists without deviation. Yet TfL do not seem to ever acknowledge it's very existence. |
