| I bumped in Gordon Brown in the BA lounge one morning many years ago. He looked quite tired and worn out, but not one to miss an opportunity, I asked him if it made economic sense to announce to the whole the whole world that he was going to sell the gold reserves off just before he started doing it. He'd driven the gold price to a 20-year low. I was going to go onto his 'no more boom and bust' statement but he dissapeared off with coffee and butty in hand, mumbling to himself. |
