| I hear what you say Keith but if residents have got time to attend committees, post on this forum etc., then they've got the time/interest to work with other local organisations, like Brentford Community Council, the Steering Group etc. to work together to create a neighbourhood plan. That was the whole point of bringing such measures in, so that communities would work together and everyone would been involved, e.g. through a local referendum. However in my experience I tend to find that the 'norm' is for people to be reactive rather than proactive, much easier to criticise from a distance than to actually get involved in any kind of 'hands on' capacity. The issue with professionals, including myself, getting involved is that (1) we are often professionally conflicted, (2) even if we are not then some individuals will always suspect that we are. |
