Osterley Tube station is about the same distance from the Jersey road site as Brentford is to Griffin Park. The surrounding roads are cleared for class 6 public transport vehicle use which allows double deck bus and coach use. ( All originally for Osterley House) The roads can cope with higher levels of sporadic traffic than Kew/ Gunnersbury can. Kew Gunnersbury is to have a local population increase of 14,000 with no infrastructure improvements. The Lionel road development is not factored into that statistic. Lionel road stadium on it's own will be highly accessible, but with the encapsulating developments and complete lack of parking factored in it will be a complete white elephant and no better than Griffin Park. All this risk just for a handful of Corporate boxes. A good design for rebuilding Griffin Park could easily solve these problems without any serious implications. Lionel Road could still be developed on a better more community building light industrial and residential scale and still fund rebuilding Griffin Park. That way at least the Pubs and small eateries will survive and retain Brentford's unique world rating in Football ! |
