Almost every street in Brentford now has uneven and broken paving stones and lumpy bumpy road surfaces. Almost all is entirely down to Thames water works. The blame though is with the council who as our agent is supposed to ensure all works are finished to a certain spec. Far too often is is shoddy from the start. But like all works, the ground settles and this is where the problems start. Councils or the GLA should be able to recall the utilities to make good up to 3 years of work being completed, In other words just like a car warranty. And if theres one thing I think ought to be state owned, it's the utilities. Simply offensive that huge profits go to shareholders out of this country. At best the profits should go to the state but preferably right back into ensuring the infrastructure is always second to none. |
