The canal bridge is regularly abused by HGVs whose weight must be far in excess of of that permitted. Another contributory factor to the failure of this joint must be the percussive effect of vehicles travelling over a road surface that is rutted and breaking up in places...... The canal bridge must be protected from those that flout the regulations and LBH must assume its share of the responsibility for the parlous state of the road surface that will have contributed to exposing the shoddiness that passes for highway reinstatement by Thames Water's contractors - just look at the road near Morrisons and Dock Road. Completely unacceptable and no amount of hand-wringing and apologies from TW compensates decent folk from getting on with their lives. Let TW pay a substantial amount toward the resurfacing of the High Street as a penalty - at the very least |
