Entirely agree with Cllr Todd's observations that the council's can not avoid their obligations to save the mansions ...and also protect the local history collection (currently being rained on). Given Ealing's u-turn on building on park (which I welcome) the question now becomes how do we raise the investment needed..... Cllr Todd - any thoughts here? Any ideas from your Ealing colleagues? This problem is something with which all local political parties and politicans need to be engaging right now. Cllr Harmer - what are your views and Ann Keen's on this? (Earlier this year you proposed a reduction in Council tax in the borough which does little to help the authority's fiscal position.) Could a mix of alternative land sales, reserves (?), revenue generation and prudential borrowing fill the funding gap...? Andrew |
