| You're forgetting something. It was Labour that brought in the 10p tax rate in the first place (in the teeth of opposition from the Tories, I seem to remember). I benefitted from it more than most. Having said that, it was only supposed to be a temporary measure in advance of the introduction of a more wide-ranging set of benefits for the low paid. (P.S.:- It's funny how the government never got any plaudits for bringing the 10p tax band in back in 2000. Only abuse for abolishing it). |
