A local I know told me a few things that I had not realised about Swyncombe. He apparently was in the Avenue where his Mum lives when the council bods turned up. But he chatted to one later and the chap pointed out two interesting facts. 1. Swyncombe Ave is wider than Windmill Road by a small margin ( matter of about 10 inches between Swyncombe Ave and The Ride. But much wider than the rest of Windmill Road from The Ride to the A4, Yet it handles 70% more traffic and a major Bus Route. 2. Every house in the Avenue has ample off road parking and most also have a garage although many have been converted for other uses Granny Flats, etc. Therefore a CPZ would benefit the road as residents would not actually need a permit. This would allow free flow of traffic. I think though the problems happening are the ripple factor of the undersized Windmill Road and Northfields Ave not being able to cope with a huge increase in local traffic generated by the LTNs illogical division of community. |
