Hi Jim - I had heard something about the possibility of gates at Brentford Dock. I don't relate terribly well to 'southern end' so can you explain in other words please? Does that mean that there will be gates at the end of Dock Road and that therefore taking a walk up to the spit with a view towards Kew Bridge will not be possible and therefore also prventing the walk beside by the Thames parallel to the Kew-side footpath? (Long sentence!) I don't go over to the Dock at all often and I can't imagine that it is a 'go to' destination for many. Is there really that much trouble caused by outsiders? - maybe at least some of the problems are within. All I can say is that on the occasions I have ventured over there it seems very peaceable and well-maintained. I did see recently that there were notices tacked to a few of the trees about how to object to an application by the Routemaster people to sell alcohol although these were, it seems, fairly swiftly removed. Maybe this application has hastened although not entirely caused the rush to 'fence'. Lastly, for now, I don't suppose the shopkeeper in the Docks would be too keen on the fencing as he no doubt welcomes any custom which comes his way. |
