It looks like the data is now showing that the lock down was unnecessary: Incubation period 5 days https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-incubation-period/ Symptoms to death 18.5 days https://www.drugs.com/medical-answers/covid-19-symptoms-progress-death-3536264/ UK deaths peak 8th April https://www.drugs.com/medical-answers/covid-19-symptoms-progress-death-3536264/ So infection peak was 8/4/20 - (18.5 + 5) days = 16/3/20 UK Lock down 24/3/20 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-52229828 i.e. infections were declining prior to the lock down. I believe the government is trapped by its initial reliance on the Imperial College team (Neil Ferguson et al) with its apocalyptic early death estimates so they won't act until there is real pressure from us - the people - to end the lock down and implement sensible social distancing and hygiene measures with isolation of the vulnerable enabling us to get back to normality. |
