I think the problem is not really numpty drivers. The signing is very badly placed and poorly worded. "High Street closed" implies a High street and unless you a really local then you will assume it means the Area that is really associated with Brentford High street. By the time the signage becomes clearer, it is too late. Your stuck. Even after 40 years I still rarely think of that bit of road as Brentford High Street more often Kew Bridge Road or Chiswick High Road as the end bit by the Fountain was called, not sure if it still is. Many think the section between Ealing Road and Kew Bridge is called Kew Bridge Road and it is not well marked. Even more so now every building is Kew this or Kew that. Road Ahead Closed and "Follow Diversions for A208 and Kew Bridge" would have been more informative But if you are stuck behind a bus or van or truck, almost all of the diversion and warning signs are not visible. Even bus drivers have made a few wrong turns as the signs have mislead them or they have followed another bus and not seen the signage clearly. |
