I'm sorry but if you earn a decent income then why do you need a council home? They are really for those who cannot come near a reasonable income in their occupations or have issues that limit their long term income ability. I know way too many people who are earning between 50k and 90k who have council flats and houses, get a new car regularly and have splendid holidays. We have had to sacrifice all of that for our own modest home. I still work a 60 hour week and am still earning below the London Average and with a University 1st to boot. For 18 years I worked damned hard, regularly working 80 hours to be able to afford our own home. It's tough but that's how it is. So even things like a parking permit and garden waste charges on top of council tax really hurt. But really in the modern age, every home built flats or houses ought to incorporate at least two parking spaces without being charged on top. The notion that everyone works up t' road at factory, or commutes into the city is pure folly and not at all how most people really make a living. A vehicle for many is as essential as a roof over ones head and space for them is something that needs to be incorporated always. |
