The spaces are sold with the leasehold. And service charges are imposed on top. Many local 'luxury' developments have leaseholder who now sublet spaces for very expensive cars and it is very profitable as the spaces are large, clean, dry and secure . Given that just a small percentage of leaseholders in GWQ actually live there, but rent the places to local authorities as far as Bexley, they choose to lease the car parking space separately. But the cost starts at about a 1k p/a and some are 3 -4k. But whilst Adam is as ever technically correct, the deals and council own policies put them in a corner. They have more control over residents in private streets, with CPZs pothole ridden roads, uneven pavements and seem to screw every last penny out of private residents in traditional streets. When it comes to the way some housing associations like A2D in places like GWQ treat tenants and even leaseholders, councils seem to be completely impotent. But then theres the cost arrangements that entwine Authorities, officers and councillors with developers and their management associates and as we regularly see, no -one is prepared to rock the boat or user the gravy train. |
