As Vanessa says, it should be left up to the customer. Personally I find the self-service machines in Tesco very useful if I'm just nipping in and out for a sandwich etc, and surely it doesn't help Tesco or its customers if someone who doesn't want to use them is 'forced' to do so, makes a complete hash of it and basically ties up both the machine and a member of staff for several minutes ?.
The self-service machines in Morrisons, on the other hand, are utterly useless in my experience, not just in the Brentford branch but I used them whilst up north over Christmas and found the same problems there. They constantly come up with unfounded error messages and the assistant has to come over and manually over-ride the machine every 30 seconds or so, it's as though Morrisons purchased a bulk load of reject machines that fell off the back of a lorry ;-) |
