| A recent study by Richard Teather of Bournemouth University analysed MPs’ pay in terms of post-tax income. This equates to an average MP package of £319,013 for 2007-2008 (including £71,608 average salary, average pension of £19,191 and average expenses of £228,215). The Keens, however, are both above this average: - Alan Keen’s total package equated to £330,272 (made up of £64,766 in salary, average pension of £17,357 and average expenses of £248,149). - Ann Keen’s total package equated to £403,051 (made up of £94,228 in salary, average pension of £25,253 and average expenses of £283,569). ------- So, in terms of in terms of pay as post-tax income, the Keens made a combined equivalent of £733,323 in one year (more than 19 times the average pay of their constituents). |
