| People thought Ann Keen cared about Brentford but of course that was before she was elected. She made much of the fact that she was an ordinary person, I believe she was supposedly a nurse, living locally etc. She seemed to tick all the boxes. Was a regular customer in the Griffin mixing with the great unwashed etc., I don't think she has crossed the door of the Griffin since she was elected. Seems to me with a few notable exceptions once "ordinary" people get elected they stop being ordinary people and become extremely well off people only interested in looking after their own interests. Singularly detached from the people they are supposed to be representing. Obviously the stonkingly well off people who become mps are detached in the first place so there's the rub, where can we get 600 plus Dennis Skinners & Hilary Benns and their like? At least they are both labour so I will be sticking with them. |
