| “The point is how can the amount of finite resources that are being lost be reduced. “ The first port of call would be the front line refuse collection teams. If they pick up an overflowing household bin, where the recycling boxes are missing, what do they do? If they pick up a really disgusting smelly household bin, where the food waste bin is not used, what do they do? If they are picking up household bins where the recycling boxes are not put out as well. What do they do? They probably have houses where they dread the pick up. Why? Could be that the household is missing the recycling bins and hasn’t thought to order some more (very easy on the website ). I have a pet hate, that I also think is a very unnecessary expense, and that is bin bags. Adding more plastic waste to the bins, doesn’t make any sense to me. If we are responsible for the state of the bin then it follows that the responsibility for maintaining it, is down to us. Wrapping anything that might contaminate the bin is also down to us. Using the food waste container means that we don’t have smelly household waste, so why can’t I just put my rubbish into the wheelie bin? Why do I have to buy black sacks and use them? Some areas have wheelie bin cleaning services who come to your house to clean the bin, should it get dirty, and should you want to use such a thing, how does that work? |
