I need to keep mum about the new operator. What's happened, I believe, is that the funding to the Housing Association sector is very tight, and that L&Q (and other HAs) have a big financial challenge making their 'heritage assets' safe given that everyone has now had their eyes opened by Grenfell. Most building from (at least) the last 20 years have to spend money updating cladding (EG most of Great West Quarter) or dealing with what the original builders didn't do as they should (Ferry Quays was mainly about buildings not built to the agreed spec related to fireproofing). I believe L&Q decided to let Morrisons to protect their cash flow whilst the finances improve, but that is my speculation rather than factual. The Morrisons site is a racing certainty to be redeveloped in some way in a few years, I hope by L&Q but given the parlous state of the UK post Brexit, Johnson, Truss, Sunak we may have a long wait. |
