I cannot agree more with the above comments. I've lived in Brentford for over 20 years and the lack of imagination regarding building approvals is depressing. I await EcoWorld's new planning application for Griffin Park (near where I live) since the existing permission has long-expired. I suspect they will be submitting plans for even fewer houses than they originally considered at their consultation after purchase of the land. It will be 'exciting, innovative, community-focused' flats. It's a horrifying thought if Ealing Road, New Road, Braemar Road and Brook Road South, with our majority of Victorian homes around Griffin Park, surround more towers of flats. We shall see. Or maybe EcoWorld will sell off the land to another developer and everything starts all over again. The key is the Community Infrastructure Levy income that is triggered by agreeing to these huge developments. I see Heidelberg's redevelopment will generate £2,742,520 for Hounslow Council and £1,495,920 for the Mayor of London. How much of that will come back to Brentford, providing schools and doctors' surgeries, I wonder? Very little, if any I suspect. |
