| Dear Brentford, We remember you well. Who allowed in these invaders to enter and plunder your town? Where are your defences? You mean big bucks..offered at a South of France Ding Dong..crumbled your resistance? The history of Brentford suggests that you have been.long shortchanged regarding access to the River Thames.Losing a third to the Duke of Northhumberland was bad enough (doesn't he now want allotment holders off his land!) (Up till recently..didn't Syon House address itself as "West London" instead of "Brentford TW8" From Kew Bridge to the River Brent the riverside was hogged by Wharfs,Gasworks with it's huge wall, Council Depot and the Docks. It was a "Keep Out" regime again.. whilst the folk of Brentford slogged away . No wonder the Town was drowned in pubs. A sad tale..but is it true? Is this Planning Committee made up of anybody from Brentford? Maybe ..once these buildings are unveiled...we'll be happier? |
