Subbaiah, I take offence at your insinuation that comments made by residents who love and care for Boston Manor park are a 'knee-jerk reaction to everything the Council does'. By the way, the award from the National Lottery is just over £3.6m, not one million. Having been in touch with the Council, clearly their agenda for the park has been set. The destruction of plantlife and habitat down by the canal is heartbreaking to see. Some of us care about the creatures whose homes have been destroyed. As Roy pointed out, now we can see and hear the traffic going along Transport Avenue, instead of being able to wander through the wild area and enjoying nature. Michael mentioned the mandarins by the lake. I fear that the plan is to remove the perimeter fence around the lake - can you imagine the scene at nesting time with humans and dogs invading the birds' territory? Apparently the trees which separate the meadow area from the football fields are going to be 'thinned out', so that there will be a clearer view from one part of the park to the other - why? I have been told that the path through the Nature Trail will be widened - why? Perhaps I and some others are sounding negative about the Council's Boston Manor Park Project. From what I have seen and heard to date, we have good reason to be extremely worried. |
