To be fair, a lot of local people/residents have raised concerns about Boston Manor and the Park and the intentions for it. What has and is happening in Gunnersbury Park sets a precedent for extreme concern. Whilst some of the long neglect of near 60 years is being addressed the affordable to all public amenities and facilities are being eradicated in a really unfair and authoritarian way. The vision for the park does not include local people but a marketing demographic. And it's becoming more than apparent that it will not be sustainable. Nor does it fit with both local councils policy on forcing walking and cycling and the ethos of facilities within a short walk. Facilities that will only be affordable to middle to higher income residents and that's at a push. Those who have put in huge efforts over decades to protect the parks and facilities in many ways have simply been pushed aside and like so many other authority led initiatives simply given a pat on the head and sent packing. They always know best. Yet true success stories are rather short on actuality. |
