Battery recycling.  I fill up a small bag by the front door then take them up to Tesco Osterley to the recycling point.  Works really well for us.  Additionally I have invested in a battery tester to check the power left in a battery, this has made its money back many times over.  Sometimes one battery is empty yet the one next to it is 3/4 full.  The tester I bought is a Rapitest Bb 110 Battery Bulb and Fuse Tester, which I have had for many years now.  It really is worth testing each battery before recycling.
