Looking at the facts, the failure to collect garden waste on December 24th is a disgrace. So, what are the facts. 1. On both the note provided by the Refuse Collection team and in Hounslow Matters, December 24th is not singled out for a revised collection. The "two week" period for revised collection is actually described as December 25th 2019 to January 10th 2020, which is actually rather more than two weeks. 2. In the note provided by the Refuse Collection team, there is no mention whatsoever of garden refuse being abandoned. 3. In Hounslow Matters, where it does indicate that garden waste will not be collected "during these two weeks", the days covered by revised collection dates does not include December 24th. By the way, Hounslow Matters was not delivered to my door - it was picked up AFTER Christmas at the Library. 4. Going forward, if there is no garden waste collection during "these two weeks", I would have expected this to mean that garden waste would not be collected on Wednesday 8th of January (i.e. the revised date for a normal Tuesday collection). However, according to a headline on the Council website (just checked by moi) Garden Waste collection will be resumed on January 6th. If this information is correct, it is certainly not properly reflected in the Hounslow Matters offering which would infer that the week commencing January 6th is part of the two week Christmas/New Year period and which clearly states that "Normal collection will resume from Monday 13th January". SO, ALL IN ALL, A PRETTY CONFUSING MESSAGE TO THOSE OF US WITH GARDEN WASTE WHEELIES WHO SPENT A FAIR BIT OF GARDEN TIME IN THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS IN THE ANTICIPATION THAT FATHER REFUSE WOULD BE TAKING OUR GARDEN PICKINGS AWAY! |
