Are you serious or is this a wind-up? I have actually found myself reflecting a great deal on how this new honest and open approach to politics which seems to form an integral part of the Corbyn/McDonnell leadership strategy is going to be reconciled with the kind of subterranean machinating that seems to underpin practically everything that comes out of Lampton Road under the present regime. Either there will have to be some serious, even fundamental change or else these two diametrically opposite approaches to political engagement are going to have to agree upon some kind of uneasy co-existence, with the new leadership effectively turning a blind eye and hoping that news of it will not spill out in a way that undermines what appears on the surface to be an exciting new development in our politics. That, of course, is one for the future. In the meantime, seeing as the Leader of the Council has clearly misled the Local Government Ombudsman is there no means through which residents might take this back to the LGO for another look? |
