This is how the councils get you: if they can slip CPZs in around you, the parking moves and moves until eventually even the diehard resisters are begging for a CPZ. Result, more money for the council, more staff (=more prestige, no doubt) for the Head of Parking. Lovely. The problem is, it's all the council's fault in the first place. They should have made sure the new developments included adequate parking, made sure there were adequate car parks at stations, etc. Of course not doing all that couldn't possibly be a conspiracy, could it? And if you live just outside the proposed CPZ, like I do, you're next. By the by, does anyone know what happens with private and housing estate car parks in the CPZ - do the council ones get covered by the permits? Or will both Hounslow Homes and the private landholders have to start hiring those parasitical private towing firms? |
