I would have to disagree that money plays any part in forming national planning policy. For instance CALA Homes are currently trying to challenge the new Coalition Government's decision to completely revoke all regional spatial strategies (like the South East Plan, years in preparation/adoption and then binned in the space of afew days having only been adopted a year ago). Having worked for Taylor Wimpey, and as someone who acts on a daily basis for major developers (including Barratts), I would add that lobbying isn't as 'big' as you might think - local residents are far more likely to lobby Councillors/politicians etc. than developers. Sustainability issues (including a reduced reliance on the private motorcar) really all date from the Rio Summit back in 1992... |
