Fact is it is private property made available for public use just like a railway terminus. The landlords still have rights on their property. That's been made clear before. They also make the space available for events ( for which they could make a charge for usage) And quite how a parked vehicle is anymore dangerous parked there, than in any other place where people are free to move. Far more dangerous are Scooters and skateboards and cyclists riding too fast on the pavements. And far more likely to cause injury to an unsuspecting person queuing for the bank or sitting having a cup of coffee ( Both have happened in recent weeks) it's not as though you can drive up at 50 mph or even 10 mph and surely park. It requires very slow manouvering and only over a few feet from the roadway. Don't hear any mention of the continual vehicle movements in Catherine Wheel Lane opposite on what still has a public road designation, street lighting and resurfaced by LBH just months before being taken over by Ballymore. Ot the total lack of disabled parking within reasonable walking distance of the only remaining local Bank Branch for miles. Far more important is the existence of businesses that enable people to even be bothered to go to this part of the High street. What little parking remains is occupied by construction vans and workers and service vehicles. |
