All buildings should be being reassessed after Grenfell and now that a Climate Change Emergency has been declared by so many Councils (and last week by the RIBA). Building Regulations which should have been updated years ago are now getting some attention. We see that the Premier Inn at the bottom of South Ealing Road is now being attended to but there are plenty of other privately developed and owned towers with cladding that has failed tests. Other types of cladding are being questioned but it wasn't just the cladding that was the problem at Grenfell... Great to see that the London Mayor officially opened the Chiswick Oasis green wall at the schools on the A4 this weekend. This together with other works to the schools eg the special paint and air filters was built mostly with crowd funded money together with some from the GLA. This should help to mitigate our very illegal air pollution. Hopefully this will galvanise other parents schools and communities to follow. |
