Living on a boat in Waterman's Park that does pay council tax, has a registered postcode, utility bills and its occupants are on the electoral register, we find it very disconcerting that people class us as 'freeloaders'. We are an architectural designer, a micro biologist and an IT Manager, who receive no income support, no benefits and no assistance from the government. We have tried over the last several years to arrange mooring fees with the council, to define a 'contract' with the council and to even buy the riverbed where our vessel currently resides. But all we receive back from meetings and letters we have arranged and sent to the council; is a brick wall of silence. The only contact we have received from the council about this issue, is a letter of action for legal proceedings. |
