Actually a local authority does have powers to deal with infestation on private land or property if it poses a public health threat. Emergency enforcement orders or direct action. Rats carry Wiel's disease and host other potentially harmful infections that can affect adults, Children and pets. They are a serious health hazard. Yet again, the authorities are pussyfooting about, wasting time and money and not achieving anything. Just like the clanking manhole cover of Holland Gardens, it could have been sorted in days not months. By the time this gets sorted the Rats will have multiplied threefold. |
