"There is an absolute dearth of small to medium light industrial, incubator and hybrid space in west London" I'm not sure what an absolute dearth looks like - I guess it depends on demand. Rightmove lists 12 light industrial properties available within a mile of Brentford. I do know that Brompton Bicycles have been looking for (a somewhat larger) new factory and having trouble finding one. Apparently landowners have a tendency to hang on to space that is zoned as light industrial in the hope that it will be rezoned as residential with a corresponding uplift in value. Whatever, in this day and age, riverside locations have become very desirable for residential development and to expect a town centre riverside area to be zoned for industrial use is unrealistic. And actually more residential development, whether overpriced or not, will help regenerate the High Street. As to Goddards, I have looked for furniture in there and been less than impressed by the stock. |
