The hustings was good fun as usual and (party supporters aside) not well attended, again as usual. Thanks are due to the Chamber of Commerce for organising it but it did go on a little while longer than planned: perhaps for the General Election we'll have a slightly better format and greater attendance. I was surprised that there weren't more questions on more social issues such as housing and social services and I was very surprised that no-one mentioned the poor state of the recycling facility in Morrison's car park but candidates could only answer (or attempt to answer) what was asked. I thought the 'classic' answer of the evening was from the Lib Dem (Syon)who believed air pollution was not bad in London because it was even worse in China! I'm sorry people didn't catch my name as the Green Candidate for Brentford. The C of C ought to have had a flyer to remind the audience who each person was. For the record you might recall me from the many, many times I've stood before. Maybe I am a 'no-hoper' from the 'wrong' party. I've been asked to join other parties but alas my convictions (political not criminal) take precedence over ambition. Thanks to all who came on the night and don't forget to vote. Remember, someone, somewhere in the world, died today trying to win that right. |
