That's a very decent summary Guy and I have to agree with you about the Conservative candidate who may as well have moved to the area yesterday such was her limited knowledge of the local area and she came across as knowing she did not have a hope in hell of getting elected Mel Collins came across as someone who obviously cares about Brentford but then ruined it all by his tear jerker because somebody did not rate him or any of the other candidates worthy of his vote and it was truly cringe worthy Dave Cox I thought came across very well considering it was his first time standing as a candidate especially in front of a predominantly Labour audience The second session with the Syon candidates was far more interesting apart from the lovely lady Joan from the Lib Dems who despite what seemed an eternity to answer a question never actually did and drifted off on various matters except the one question posed Theo Dennison and Ian Speed were the best on this panel and both gave as good as they got as they traded facts and figures but it did not get personal or nasty which was a good thing The young Conservative chap did not help his case by getting himself too worked up and trying to attack the Labour administration constantly rather then actually selling himself as an alternative |
