Of course increasing the Council Tax and not improving services would be the worst of all options, but Paul is still absolutely right to flag up the fact that the current Labour administration is doing nothing more ambitious than trying to out-Tory the Tories. It is shameful that whilst there is still talk of closing libraries and selling off public halls the present administration can even think about tacky election stunts like this. Bearing in mind that low Council Tax seems to be the one and only tangible policy the local Tories have, why should anybody who considers this a priority bother now to vote Conservative? And conversely, why would anybody who values our public services and who wishes to see investment in our community infrastructure want to vote Labour? |
