Agree absolutely: This is what I said on W4 This is all very well but what else will go up to make up for the shortfall? In spite of the government insisting that you can do more for less, in reality that is nonsense. It's like the myth of keeping wages down, yes- great - then the poor sods on pitiful wages have to claim in-work benefits. That means that the taxpayer coughs up and is subsidising big multimillion pound companies. That is the real life situation of councils 'outsourcing' services, the contractors pay minimum wage and treat people like dirt, and we go on picking up the tab. The fact is someone, somewhere, has to pay, the farce of cutting the Environment Agency budget whilst that idiot Owen Paterson insists they can do things more efficiently and prevent flooding shows the stupidity of people who really try to convince us of that. I doubt people living on the Somerset levels buy in to that cobblers. Sad - but true - we only get what we pay for. |
