I Quote - "The Department for Business website talks loftily of enauring that the Royal Mail has the necessary access to investment though privatisation, 'untying its hands', as business minister Michael Fallon puts it. But this is the same Department for Business that was so concerned that privately owned plcs were short termist and anti-investment that it commissioned John Kay to investigate. Even if his report shrank from any meaningful action, it at least dramatised the problem........It is just that British private ownership structures maximise every adverse possibility and outcome." Seems to me as a mere member of the public that no-one looks at the bigger picture and what is best overall but instead goes for the easy option which is quick to do, neither will they look outside the current box where privatisation is concerned so intent are the politicians and very senior civil servants on their narrow self interests. What I am at a loss to understand is that so far it's been one big disaster, yet still they pursue this like Lemmings. |
